Pets Blessed in Mexico on Saint Anthony the Abbott's Feast Day
This is an amazing occurence. On Saint Anthony the Abbott's feast day Mexicans take their pets to Catholic Churches where a priest reads a special animal prayer. Turtles, dogs, parrots and many other types of pets come with their owners to receive the blessing. Reuters says pets are often dressed in vibrant frocks and ribbons are placed on their ears so they can be sprinkled with holy water by the priest reading the prayer. This video from Reuters shows some pets going to church to receive the annual pet blessing.
