Groomer Has It is a new reality show on Animal Planet that features a series of competitions between 12 dog gromers. The groomers compete in a series of challenges that test how well they shave, shear and shampoo. The challenges also test a grooomer's creativity. The grand prize winner will receive a cash prize of $50,000, a mobile grooming salon from Wag'n Tails Mobile Grooming and the title of "Groomer of the Year" - three prizes totaling $125,000.
During the competition the groomers all live together in a Los Angeles loft dubbed the "Dog House." After each challenge, host Jai Rodriguez and a panel of judges, including veterinarian Dr. Karen Halligan, champion dog handler Xavier Santiago and U.S. grooming expert Joey Villani decide which contestant does not make the cut. The losing contestant in each challenge is sent home.
As wild as the premise sounds it is actually a pretty interesting show especially if you love dogs and have an interest in how dogs are groomed. The judges take the challenges very seriously especially Xavier Santiago who appears to have a strong liking for perfection. Judge Dr. Karen Halligan spent some time in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina helping to recover and find homes for stranged pets. You can read more about this on Halligan's website.
